A national scheme for people with disability, administered by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). The NDIS provides funding to eligible Australians with disability to purchase NDIS supports related to their disability. These supports help participants in their everyday life and to pursue their goals.
The NDIS takes a lifetime approach, investing early in people with disability and children with developmental delay to improve their outcomes later in life.
To be eligible for the NDIS, a person must:
- Be under 65 years of age
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Meet the disability or early intervention requirements
